No more CDi magnetos from us

As you can read on our News page we are no longer going to supply these ignition systems, we are currently developing a new system.  This page is still here for people who have bought a second hand one and want to know more about it.  Please contact Frank Deihl to buy this kind of magneto, his new address is 734 Dillon Drive, Georgetown, South Carolina 29440, phone +1 843-520-0481.

Magneto

Our magnetos can be fitted to almost all classic British singles and twins.  They are easily adjustable to give you the ignition timing you need, and as long as they are correctly fitted (see instructions below) they are reliable and efficient.

ABSAF Magneto

  • The ABSAF magneto has been designed to function without a battery or other source of power.
  • It is a CDi ignition system, with automatic advance for easy starting and a separate ignition coil which can give either 1 or 2 sparks of 40,000 volts, according to preference.
  • We can supply not only these reliable magnetos which are highly suitable for racing, but also magnetos for other BSA, Matchless, Norton and Vincent twins, in fact for all classic British motorcycles.  They are generally cheaper than our special racing magnetos.

Please specify for which motorcycle you require a magneto when ordering.

Fitting instructions

For ABSAF CDi Magneto

Red wire  - coil

Black wire - earth

Yellow wire - kill switch

Attention: do not use resistance type spark plug caps as this may damage the magneto and will certainly impair performance

1.    Remove the small (Ø38mm) cover from the magneto.

2.    Put the small pin in the hole drilled behind the cover.

3.    Turn the magneto shaft until the pin goes in further.

4.    The magneto is now locked in the firing position.

5.    Turn the engine to the required ignition timing point.

6.     Fit the magneto driving gear.

Note:

1.    The small locking pin cannot be used to prevent magneto from

turning when tightening the driving gear nut.

2.    Make sure the magneto is between the 2 outer adjustment points

     before fitting.

3.   Black box must be fitted carefully and free from vibrations.

4.   For dual coils it makes no difference where the red wire and the

      earth wire are connected.

If you have any doubts don't hesitate to contact us.
