Paul Dobbs breaks lap record on the Isle of Man

Paul Dobbs broke a lap record in the Senior Classics practice run, fastest Gold Star ever, congratulations Paul!  Shame a gearbox problem stopped him in the race, it would have been interesting.

Paul wasn't riding his Gold Star but one that belongs to Jan Frank Bakker, former Dutch Classics Champion see photo below.

Paul and Bridget told us:

"The record was John Loader and it was set 13 years
ago. I don't know exactly what John's speed was
(around 98mph) but an interesting point is that bike never finished a race!

I don't know if our fastest lap will count officially because it was during practice and not a race."

The two sites above have lots of historic photographs like the two above as well as lots more besides.  Lovely for a wet afternoon, and if you need an authentic bike horn they can get you one.

Pike BSA site

You'll find lots of information on the Pike BSA, including loads of photographs here on this site www.pike-bsa.com.  We really liked it!  I stole one of their photos so you can get an idea of what to expect.
